Adding Files Mac

Have not been able to figure out how to add files and attachments.  I tried dragging them onto the canvas from the finder and all I got was a text box with an attachment picture or icon on it.  I do not get a context menu when I right click on the canvas so Brads suggestion for adding links is a moot point.  Also, does not seem to be syncing to dropbox though the option is turned on.

you can see your attached files from the side panel window. You can also drag directly to the attachment area for selected items.
